Quake-triggered tsunami rumors create panic in Lampung
Hundreds of people ran for safety as rumors of an approaching tsunami spread across Bandarlampung, immediately after a magnitude-6.4 earthquake shaken up the Lampung. After that loud tsunami warnings were hearde among the people. Bandarlampung Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency chief said the quake could not have triggered a tsunami.
Padang City administration are going to build emergency shelters
Padang City administration are going to build emergency shelters in case of a tsunami, Padang City administration is planning to integrate the shelters with existing school buildings along the coast.Padang Mayor Fauzi Bahar said the shelters will be constructed on the beach areas of the coastal city in Pantai Padang, Purus, Ulak Karang, Air Tawa and Lubu Buaya.The city's data shows that around 600,000 people, or around 60 percent of the city's total population, live near the beach.
